We collect the following personal data when you use Ridefy:
- Account Information: Name, email address, profile photo (from your social login provider), and phone number if provided.
- Location Data: Pickup and drop-off addresses you enter for rides. We do not track your real-time GPS location continuously.
- Ride Data: Trip details, including routes, schedules, cost sharing amounts, and ride history.
- Community Data: Communities you create or join, membership status, and community-specific interactions.
- Usage Data: Device type, browser type, and general usage analytics to improve our service.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide and maintain the Ridefy ride sharing service
- To match you with suitable rides within your communities
- To facilitate communication between riders and drivers
- To calculate cost sharing and route detours
- To send service-related notifications (ride confirmations, requests, etc.)
- To improve our platform through aggregated, anonymized analytics
4. Legal Basis for Processing
We process your data based on:
- Contract performance: Processing necessary to provide you the Ridefy service

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:
- Other community members: Your name, profile photo, and ride details are visible to members of your shared communities when you offer or request rides.
- Service providers: Firebase (authentication & hosting), Google Maps (routing), and our database hosting provider, all operating under GDPR-compliant data processing agreements.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain certain records.

Your data is stored in the EU (Google Cloud, europe-west region). Where data processing involves transfers outside the EEA, we ensure adequate protection through Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Continued use of Ridefy after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
